In this day and age having your own, personal web site for your business is as important as having your own telephone number. Maybe, even more important ... Today's clients are computer savvy. They go to the web for their information and their suppliers. They respect those who make it easier for them to get information.
I have personally experienced an incredible energy that has been generated by having my own site. As many of you know, my original site was merged with Gary Bernstein's site to form Zuga.net. Zuga is continuing to grow and prosper. Within the next few weeks Zuga will take a quantum leap when it opens up ZugaTV.net. Zuga will continue to be THE source for photographic instruction for both professional photographers and those who are simply interested in improving their photographic talents. I will, of course, continue my participation on Zuga. So, why THIS new site? For those of you who are wondering why I am now starting "The Portrait Photographer's Notebook" I'm doing it as a simple demonstration to show everyone how easy it is to publicize his/her photographic business in a contemporary environment that they can control all by themselves. It doesn't take a highly skilled person to do what I'm doing. All it takes is a few hours of your time and a desire to keep it current. After all, if a web site isn't continually changing, why should anyone come back to visit again on a regular basis? When I discovered SiteWelder, I realized that I had come across the answer to my prayers. Here is a company that has already planned an outline for personal web sites that can be customized to one's own tastes merely by clicking on a few different buttons. How easy can it be? My personal choice for this web site was simply black, white and a touch of some other color. I found exactly what I wanted in one of SiteWelder's already prepared templates. It would be simple for me to change the look of this site. All I'd have to do would be to get into the SiteWelder program and make a few different decisions. It's that easy. I've asked Alan Dorow, its director, to find me a Message Board that I can add to this site. With the boards added people can comment on a regular basis and, thus, keep people coming back to see who's on board and what they're talking about. So, watch for that addition in a few days. In the meantime here's a publicity release that they've written for me to publish here. Before reading it I just want you to know that I whole heartily endorse this company. I can only imagine what it can do for your business. My recommendation: Keep your site simple, easy to read, easy to navigate....and keep it current. This is the way to do it!
